Our parish is the home, the heart and the foundation of the Omaha Archdiocese. We minister to people within and outside our parish boundaries. As a Roman Catholic parish we welcome people of diverse backgrounds into a worshiping, ministering community and graciously accept our leadership role in the Archdiocese and in the community. Today, the Cathedral parish consists of approximately 970 households and a grade school of 320 Kindergarten through grade eight children, with families living both within our designated parish boundaries, as well as people from across the larger metropolitan area. As the church of the bishop's chair, the Cathedral is the location of all the major feasts involving the Archbishop - ordinations of deacons and priests, commissioning of lay ministers and special occasions within the Archdiocese. It is also an everyday, busy parish.
Our church is a landmark for our city, both day and night. It is a gathering place for faith and culture, for learning and for service, it is a testimonial to generations of faith-filled people and it is an anticipation for the future that will receive the legacy of faith from today's generation.
The heart of Saint Cecilia Cathedral Parish is the people. Every person in this diverse and interesting parish is invited to become a part of the life of our parish through ministries activities, and committees.
It is through the Gospel that we are continually reminded that every baptized person has a special role in their faith community. There is a parish ministry or activity where your time and talents will make a difference.
As disciples of Jesus Christ in the Roman Catholic Cathedral Parish of Saint Cecilia, through the ministry of the Archbishop, we share Christ's presence with all we encounter by our sacramental participation, our parish community, and living the Word of God.
Inspiring. Faith. Community.
