Archdiocesan Appeal

Pastoral Vision and Priorities

One Church: encountering Jesus, equipping disciples, living mercy

The purpose of the Archdiocese of Omaha is to be a part of the living Body of Christ, welcoming and inspiring every person to live as a vibrant disciple of Jesus Christ so that all may respond to their vocation to holiness, be sent out as leaven to transform the world, and fulfill their deepest human desire.

With a gift to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, you ensure that our parishes and schools remain vibrant.  You help young couples prepare for the joys and challenges of marriage. Because of you, teachers, lay catechists, priests and deacons receive continuing education. Your gift strengthens youth ministry programs, adult faith formation outreach and RCIA classes throughout the archdiocese.

The goal of the 2017-2018 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is $3.65 million. Our parish’s goal is $54,755.22.

Your generosity enlivens every facet of parish life. A gift to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal ensures that the sacramental life of the church reaches more people and the message of the Gospel touches more hearts.

The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal makes up 23% of the Archdiocesan Annual Operating Budget. By continuing to grow the Annual Appeal we will be able to:

·       Help advance the Pastoral Vision and Priorities

·       Reduce the reliance on other sources of revenue for the archdiocese

·       Poise the archdiocese to continue to expand its ability to support parishes, schools and ministries in a variety of ways

·       Provide more people with the opportunity to participate in the works of the archdiocese in meaningful ways

The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal supports all of the offices, ministries and programs of the archdiocese that in turn support every parish and school in our community through efforts including but not limited to:

·       Catholic Schools Office supports 70 schools and 20,000 students.

·       Center for Family Life Formation assists with every phase of family life, from marriage preparation for nearly 1,200 engaged couples to support for those experiencing difficulty, such as divorce and death of a loved one.

·       Office of Evangelization and Catechesis strengthens parish adult faith formation and youth ministry programs.

·       Office of Divine Worship offers training for the more than 600 extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and lectors in parishes.

·       Catholic Charities serves more than 75,000 people annually.

Lord Jesus,

By the Most Holy Sacrament of Your Body and Blood,

we are united with our brothers and sisters

in every parish across the Archdiocese of Omaha

as one people, one Church.

You have called us to the altar

that we might be fed with Bread from heaven;

You will send us out again

that we might bring Your love and mercy to the world.

Equip us as your disciples.

Help us to understand that perfect charity

is expressed in tangible and meaningful ways

and that each of us has something to contribute in the Body of Christ.

May the Eucharist move each of us to sacrificial love,

to be generous with our time, talents and resources.

And may Your divine presence be ever more visible

in the faith and good works of Your Church in northeast Nebraska.

You live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
